Old Fart Pride

People often ask me why I named my company Old Fart Candles.  Well, before I give you that explanation, let me start here by stating I am very proud to have earned the title of Old Fart.  Let me explain further.  Old Fart is found in only the male species, but all men are not Old Farts. Old Farts are not politically correct. It starts at a very young age.  It is passed down from generation to generation and learned on a daily basis. My Old Fart training started at about nine years old. I was watching cartoons on TV when Pop came into the room and said, “Come with me son,” and to the garage we went at which time I was introduced to the lawnmower.   Can you guess what happened to me for the next three hours and every week thereafter? Man slave labor. I did not realize it at the time, but I had just come in contact with my first Old Fart and I was now in Old Fart training. Over the next eight years, I learned a lot from the Old Fart. He taught me that nothing was free. He taught me honesty and about my word to someone else; he taught me about family and how hard he could  whoop my butt when he thought  I needed  an attitude adjustment.  He taught me about service to my country  and about all who gave all so I could be here and be able to write this and about  my uncles who died in combat in 1943 keeping this country free, the cost has been great. He made me read books on the history of this country and told me if I did not know from where I came, I would be lost and not know where I needed to go in the future.   Now at seventeen years old with everything the Old Fart had taught me, I was sure I had learned everything.   Because Old Farts are very patriotic, it rather rubbed off on me. So I joined The United States Marine Corps where I met the biggest of all Old Farts-Gunny Sgt. Anderson; I never knew his first name. This Old Fart continued my old fart training and taught me well.  I will leave out the language I learned from this Old Fart and continue.   He taught me about a strong mind and body, that I could accomplish  anything I wanted to and never to take a step to the rear always go forward full force  and trust. For me this was a big one; to this day I trust three:   God, the Marine on my left and the Marine on my right. I am always looking out of the corner of my eye at everybody else. Now this Old Fart and a few other Old Farts have been training my son and I think we have done a good job. Justin has been serving in the United States Air Force for about ten years now, has graduated from Old Fart in training to an Old Fart, and will in a few more years start my grandson in Old Fart training.  If I am still here, I will gladly help. To any young men who might read this, give the Old Fart some time; he has years of life experience that will lead you in the right direction instead of running around with your buddies seven days a week. You will not regret it. Now how I chose the name for this candle company is this:   my wife had picked out two names and I was on my way to the court house to get our DBA when my son called me on my cell.  When I answered, he said,” Hello, Old Fart.” Well, the bells went off and I started laughing because I thought how might my wife react if I were to name the company Old Fart Candles. Well, I did and I am still here. We have had so much fun with it and I thank all of my loyal customers. Semper Fi.  The Old Fart
